Food Choices that Make a Difference The eight chapters in this manual identify the environmental impacts related to the production, processing, distribution, sale, and final preparation of food in the United States. This publication is designed as a resource for high school teachers to use in their curriculum, especially in Family Living and Consumer Science. Each section develops an issue related to our food system and includes resources for both teachers and students to explore the environmental implications of that issue. Topics include water, soils, carbon load, livestock and poultry production, seafood choices, sustainability in the kitchen and creating school gardens. See the full publication in pdf format.
A copy of your “Food Choices that Make a Difference” manual was given to us from our school’s Horticulture teacher. This is a great resource for our magnet high school Culinary Arts class and we would like to see if we could get many more copies of your manual and perhaps any electronic resources you may turn us on to for our classes.
Please let me know what I can do to receive more of these and thank you so much for gathering this information for us to explore a bigger picture of our food system.
Sincerely,
Dave Angell
